It's been an interesting event so far. No big disasters, though a couple of close ones. I was driving through a small town and made a wrong turn. The GPS directed me into the parking lot of a high school to turn around and I got in the long line of mom cars. I see the motorcycle cop just as my phone rings. It's a bookseller from another town. I pick up the phone and press the button to answer...then I squeal and drop the phone.

In Texas, we have a no cell phones in school zones law with a BIG fine. I didn't know the law in Georgia and frankly, I didn't want to know.

I waited until I was in a more appropriate place to return the call.

This is a great time of year to be traveling. You can officially call me a leap peeper now. This drive through Tennessee and Georgia has been absolutely gorgeous.

Today's schedule takes me to the Alpharetta  B&N, Norcross B&N, the Bookmeiser at noon for a signing, then the Marietta B&N, the Acworth Booksamillion. I have prizes and giveaways in my car. If anyone come up to me and tells me they're following the trip on the blog, prizes go to you!

At least now is a good time for roadtrips. Even though you won't see as many different colors, the trees are changing and the air is crisp! Have a great scenic time.

It never fails, when I'm on my way to some place I haven't been and I have directions, I'll make a wrong turn somewhere. Glad you saw that cop before he saw you on the phone. Have a fun and safe trip.

Georgia and Tennessee are both beautiful. Don't listen to your GPS all the time, you may end up in a lake, it's been known to happen. Safe travels and you may think about getting a Bluetooth so you have hands free phone.

As a native Mississippian, transplanted Texan the last decade or so, I find I really miss autumn,. There are a few trees, here and there that turn colors here in North Texas but I miss the sheer beauty of mile after mile of gorgeous reds, yellows and browns of the oaks and maples. My soul gets so hungry for that. Enjoy your trip, savor every moment and continue posting the wonderful word portraits. God bless.

you are absolutely right about traveling this time of year - less temp, more color, fewer bugs, more open roads - i have loved any trips taken this time of year - word of advice; take your time when you can; don't be afraid to stop at those fun, quirky places; keep a road map close

The cell phone laws are VERY important, but so inconvenient at times, such as with your situation. Hopefully, if you were to get stopped by the police person, it would be someone who LOVES your books as much as I do, and they would be forgiving. Enjoy your trip!

Love the "road trip" blog and I hope you're getting to enjoy the sights that the South has to offer. It seems sad you're not able to get to some of the wonderful historic sights in all of the southern states.

LOVE the entire Eternity Springs series and I agree with another comment about the musical chairs but with disco music, I'm still laughing at the one :)

Started the latest book yesterday while waiting for my Fiancee to have another medical appointment. Spent a pleasant 60 minutes in Eternity Springs. Here in Australia, you are not allowed to hold a mobile phone at all while driving or you get a huge fine. Phone is supposed to be a special holder connected to the dash that let's you talk hands free. Have a safe journey.
