Eternal Romance Author of the Month: Emily March
Check it out! I was recently featured as Eternal Romance's Author of the Month! You can read the article here or see it on the Eternal Romance website.
When you wrote your first Eternity Springs novel, ANGEL’S REST, could you imagine that it would become such a successful and popular series? And did you envisage it would run for so many books?
I’m a dreamer...that’s why I write fiction…so yes, I’ve imagined creating a world that readers would want to visit time and time again. However, seeing that dream come true has been more rewarding than I ever envisioned.
We’d love to live in magical Eternity Springs! What was your inspiration for this very special setting?
Eternity Springs is a combination of the some of the small Colorado towns I’ve visited since childhood and a couple of small towns near my home in Texas - with a touch of Brigadoon thrown in.
Have you always wanted to be a writer? What do you love most about your job?
I always wanted a creative job, but out of college I wanted to work in advertising. A year of that cured me. I’m much better writing one hundred thousand word novels than one sentence jingles.
Do you have the most fun creating your heroes or your heroines?
That really depends on the particular story. It varies from book to book.
Do you have a favourite hero or heroine from your books or by any other author?
I am a little in love with Harry Dresden in Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files series.
Who are the authors you read for pleasure?
Oh, wow. Too many to mention! I read every day, so I go through a lot of books. All of my friends, of course, including Christina Dodd, Nicole Burnham, and Susan Sizemore. I love thrillers. Right now I’m enjoying Gregg Hurwitz’s YOU’RE NEXT.
If you could take only three essentials with you to a desert island what would they be?
Not the internet! :)
Who would be on your dream dinner party guest list, dead or alive?
At first I listed characters like my crush fictional character, Harry Dresden, and my sports hero, Johnny Manziel. Then I realized I didn’t really care about a dinner with famous people.
My absolute best dream dinner party would be a family gathering. I’d love nothing more than to have one more family dinner with all of my loved ones, including those who I’ve lost.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Good wine, carbs and designer handbags.
There’s so much interest and excitement around romance fiction right now. What do you think that romance readers are looking for in the romances they read today?
I’m a big believer in feel-good fiction and happy endings. I think at the heart of the story, that’s what readers want.
